Topolovo Folk Band
|
Following the tradition of the Bulgarian wedding orchestras which are often named after the musicians’ native village, TOPOLOVO, a village which is situated in the South of Bulgaria, has become the name of a group with such members as: Wenceslas Hervieux, Jacky Molard, Jean-Francois Roger, Etienne Callac and Emmanuel Frin.
TOPOLOVO embodies the spirit and style which are typical for the Bulgarian wedding bands. Nevertheless the members of the group give a new impulse to it thanks to a different kind of harmonization and original arrangements. Words like sensibility and virtuosity are the very heart of TOPOLOVO’s music which provide a wide range of musical trends in Bulgaria nowadays. Thus it represents the kind of dynamism which the tradition bears occuping an important place in the today’s society.
TOPOLOVO associates one of the emblematic of Bulgarian traditional instruments, which is gaida (Bulgarian bagpipe), with some more modern ones such as the clarinet, violin, accordion, bass guitar, percussion and drums. Starting from the millenial themes from the Orpheus’s mountain up to the urban eclecticism belonging to the 21st century, the musicians of TOPOLOVO reach an efficient synthesis whose impact comes from the deep emotion pouring from the bavni melodii (slow melodies), the rich diversity of dance rythms, the brio of themes and masterful solos.
TOPOLOVO invites you to a musical voyage beyond the Bulgarian frontiers through the Balkans where music has remained deeply rooted in the tradition though constantly innovated by its own evolution and openness of spirit.
